BG Art Contest!

Entry 29 on BG

So I’ve been looking around the BG contest and… there was two favorite picks out of all of them! Entry09 and Entry29.

Here’s what I’d like about each one!

The first one (Entry 9) is titled Randgrith. (the one on the left). From a non-artist perspective, I think it does a good job in expressing the danger of the whm :o Its trying to stay alive. A sort of dark overall background and high contrast was used to express this theme. Since its kinda dark, not a lot of detail were needed to be drawn onto the picture. The attacking part is kinda funny :o Hittin the beak with the Mace :D offhand Kraken Club. The details on the Taru were moderate, and the facial expression were nicely drawn. I think everything fits well.

On the same page, you also have “Paladin’s Duty”. Its very not nicely drawn compared to Entry 9, but I guess people vote for it because the fact that the PLD is blocking Ultima’s attack is the cool part and [True Strike]. Its a funny picture, but not a well drawn picture.

Onto the other entry that I’d like to describe. Entry 29.

The second entry is titled “Divine Seal”. This one is absolutely different from the other one. This one is expressing what a true whm would do… healing and cures. One noticeable aspect of this drawing, the nicest part is the energy coming out from the right foot of the character, the sparks. Its beautifully drawn compared to the “smash effect” from Entry 9. Just like a real divine seal, you tend to glow and this was correctly reflected and draw onto the pic! The facial expression was right too.. its like starring at someone “omg you’re about to die… shit!” lol, looks kinda concerned, and is what a typical WHM goes through everyday… always so concerned. The details on the drawing is also much higher than Entry 9 (if you look closely, here, compare them side by side, click the pics below for a larger version).

Again, this is from a non-art person perspective. Everyone have their own preference and such :) I’d just personally favor arts that’s nicely drawn with details & I think Entry 29 express that perfectly.

Here’s what I voted for (Entry 29) but feel free to browse other entry. You might find something you like more :)
